Dear UPSD Parents/Guardians:

I hope your winter break is off to a great start with lots more fun and celebration in the days ahead. As we bring 2025 to a close, I want to thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. We would not be able to establish and sustain such exceptional schools without our amazing UPSD families. I feel very honored to be part of the University Place School District community and look forward to continuing our important work together in the new year when school resumes on January 5th.

Before we go, here are a few reminders and updates:

School Closure & Delay Notification Reminder
Several neighboring school districts closed or delayed the start of school last week due to windstorms that resulted in road hazards and power outages.  We received several calls from parents asking us why we did not send out a notice that school was starting on time.  Please remember that we will only send out notifications if schools are closed or delayed.  If families don't get a message, they can assume that schools are operating on normal schedules. You can find additional information about inclement weather plans in UPSD here.

Bond and Levy Information
We continue to add information to our website about three propositions that will be on the ballot in an upcoming special election in February 2026.  It is very important to us that parents and citizens have accurate and complete information about these important funding measures.  Several informational videos were added this week and are available for Propositions #1, #2 and #3.  Please view and share these videos. We will also offer several tours and informational presentations in January if you would like to learn more.  Check out our website for details.

HearMeWA Reminder
We know the holidays can be tough times for some students.  In my last update, I shared information about a new, state-funded, state-operated crisis response program for youth. The program operates every day - 24 hours per day- including during holidays and breaks. For more information, visit the HearMeWA website.

Thank you for reading this update, and I wish you a very happy holiday season.

Best regards,

Jeff Chamberlin
